Local families providing a warm welcome
Homestay plays an important part of a foreign students time in
York, with many evaluating their experience largely on their time spent being part of a host family. This type of accommodation
is undoubtedly the best way to learn about British culture and improve spoken English. All of our families speak English
as a first language and are experienced in welcoming foreign visitors into their homes and sensitive to the needs of different
nationalities and cultures. Whilst our families are as varied as the British culture, the one thing they can all guarantee
is a warm welcome into a clean, comfortable relaxing family home.
Bedrooms are well equipped with a minimum of
a single bed and wardrobe hanging space or other clothing storage per student, although many of our families offer much more
than this. Students are usually placed with families in groups of 2, 3 or 4, however, single placements can be arranged.
Most host-families live within a five minute walk of the students daily meeting point, but those who don't will provide
transportation to and from the group at no extra charge. All accommodation is checked and assessed by our local organisers
and must meet our high standards.
Group leaders and coach drivers usually opt to stay with a host-family, although
we can arrange local hotel accommodation upon request if this is a preferred option.
Full board and half-board
options are available. Both include breakfast and dinner to be taken with the host family, whilst full-board includes a substantial
packed lunch every day.
We provide local organiser support 24 hours a day for group leaders, students and
our host families.
